Hi, I'm Tammy
At Oak and Rose Counselling, care is more than clinical — it’s personal.
Founded on values of warmth, honesty, and respect, shaped by life in a small Northern Ontario community.
Therapy that meets you where you are, with space to move at your own pace, without pressure or judgment.
Oak and Rose reflects our approach — strong, steady support (oak) paired with sensitivity and growth (rose).
Here for real-life challenges — whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, or big life transitions.
Culturally informed, community-centered care from someone who understands the North.
14+ years in public mental health, offering a rare blend of clinical skill and authentic human connection.
A bit about my background
I'm a Registered Social Worker with over 14 years of experience, and I hold both a Master's in Social Work and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies. My approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in humility—drawing from proven methods like EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. I'm committed to equity, inclusivity, and anti-oppressive practice, and I strive to create a safe, affirming space where all identities and experiences are respected.
Whatever brought you here today, you're not alone
I provide counselling and consulting services designed to support individuals, couples, and organizations in building resilience, strengthening relationships, and fostering healthier environments. Services are available in English and French, with a focus on practical, evidence-based approaches to mental health and wellbeing
Here are some of the challenges I help people work through:
Feeling Anxious or Having Panic Attacks
Your mind races, worry takes over, and sometimes it feels hard to catch your breath. These feelings are valid, and you're not alone in this.
Struggling with Depression or Sadness
Some days feel heavier than others. You might feel disconnected or like you've lost yourself. This feeling doesn't define you.
Navigating Eating Disorders or Body Image
Your relationship with food or your body feels complicated and overwhelming. You deserve to feel at peace with yourself.
Processing Trauma or PTSD
Past experiences still feel heavy and affect your daily life. Healing is possible, and you don't have to carry this alone.
Going Through Grief or Major Life Changes
Loss and life transitions—whether chosen or unexpected—can feel overwhelming. It's normal to need support during these times.
Feeling Stressed or Burnt Out
You're exhausted from trying to keep it all together. It's okay to need support and to prioritize your well-being.
You're exactly where you need to be
Seeking help isn't a sign of weakness—it's one of the bravest things you can do. You deserve support, understanding, and a space where you can be completely yourself. Taking this step shows incredible courage.
