Your healing journey starts with one conversation

Compassionate, experienced, confidential therapy for teens and adults across Ontario. Whether you’re navigating difficult emotions or going through a tough time - you don’t have to face it alone.

Meet Tammy

Rooted in Compassion. Grounded in the North.

I’m Tammy, a Registered Social Worker, therapist, and the founder of Oak & Rose Counselling. I hold a PhD and MSW and bring years of clinical, academic, and community-based experience to my work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan.

I believe it’s important to begin by acknowledging my social location. I am a white, cis-gendered, francophone woman and carry privileges that shape how I move through the world. I am mindful that therapists and health-care providers are often positioned as “experts,” which can create power imbalances. My intention is to work collaboratively, with humility and transparency, and to foster a therapeutic relationship grounded in partnership rather than hierarchy.

My practice is trauma-informed, weight-inclusive, and BIPOC affirming. I work with people (14 years old +) navigating eating disorders and complex relationships with food and body, anxiety and chronic stress, trauma, and relational challenges. I also support couples seeking deeper connection, communication, and understanding. While I draw from evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches, I remain deeply responsive to each person’s lived experience, values, and pace.

I am committed to culturally responsive and inclusive care. I strive to understand and honour identities, cultures, and experiences different from my own, and to actively reflect on power, privilege, and systemic inequities within the therapeutic space. I aim to create an environment where clients feel respected, heard, and supported in showing up as their full, authentic selves.

In addition to my clinical work, I am a sessional lecturer in social work and remain deeply invested in the training and mentorship of future helping professionals. This academic grounding informs my commitment to clinical rigour, ethical practice, and lifelong learning.

Outside of work, I value time with my family, fishing, camping, running or at the arena watching my kids play hockey.

If you feel we may be a good therapeutic fit, I would be honoured to connect by booking a free consultation with me.

Body Image, Embodiment and Self-Criticism

As bodies change during postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause, weight inclusive therapy offers a compassionate place to land to address, stigma, trauma and disconnection.

Feeling Stressed or Burnt Out

You're exhausted from trying to keep it all together. It's okay to need support and to prioritize your well-being.

You're exactly where you need to be

Seeking help isn't a sign of weakness—it's one of the bravest things you can do. You deserve support, understanding, and a space where you can be completely yourself. Taking this step shows incredible courage.
